Dynke Kleefstra (1986) is a visual artist based in Harlingen, the Netherlands. She graduated from Minerva Art Academy (2005–2009) and combines her artistic practice with teaching.
Water is a recurring point of departure in her work, functioning as landscape, physical experience and carrier of memory. Through layering, colour and material, she explores how her story can be told through painting. Her work moves between abstraction and figuration, seeking a balance between content and aesthetics.
Her series Wetterfamke is rooted in childhood memories of summers spent on the water in Friesland. She begins with a self-constructed water map. From this starting point, she explores how memory can take shape through image.
